On Monday the 24th October 2005, Win Coleman-Wood sadly passed away. Everyone in Carnival had known her for many years and she'll be missed dearly.
This was written by the National Carnival Guild, Chairman Gordon Rathbone. And published in the Carnival Impact Nov/Dec 2005. It sums up the feelings at the moment so well we asked him if we could use it. Thank You
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Win Coleman-Wood, Win was involved with carnival for over forty years, together with her husband George, Vice Chairman of the National Carnival Guild.
Win was alway there to assist in chaperoning the Carnival Courts over the years, and this was shown at her funeral when there were many of the previous carnival court members of Basildon in attendance.
Over the years there were different carnival associations that Win had been involved with, these being the one she will be remember for, Basildon & Pitsea. There were also associations that both Win & George were connected with, being Southgate, Redbridge, to name a few, but there were all the carnivals that Win attended, and always enjoying herself, in her own way.
There were many at the funeral representing many carnival associations, and the Guild being represented by Vice President, Paul Houghton, Myself, Guild Treasurer, Cherie Sargeant, and Guild Executive members, Angela Guest, David Sargeant, and Michael Watson.
Our thoughts go to George and Andrew at this sad time, together with other members of the family, Win will be missed but never forgotten.
